New BIO-EARN Programme Regional Coordinator

Dr Anne Wangai joined the BIO-EARN Programme in February 2008 as Regional Coordinator, following the departure of Prof. Esther Kahangi who was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Anne Wangai was initially educated in Kenya where she pursued her undergraduate degree at the University of Nairobi. She matriculated with a Bachelor of Education Science degree. She later joined Reading University, UK, where she pursued her Masters (MPhil) and a Doctorate (PhD) specializing in Crop Protection/Virology. She has since worked at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI) in various capacities.

Anne brings to BIO-EARN a wealth of knowledge and experience in the successful implementation of research projects, application of science and technology to generate applicable tools, incorporation of bio-technological tools to enhance protocols to generate demand driven innovations and dissemination of proven technologies to end users. She has also authored numerous publications.
