The BIO-EARN Programme through its Policy project inaugurated a ten (10) member team nominated from the institutions involved in BIO-EARN Programme activities in the four countries. The team throughout the Programme is entrusted with the responsibility to:

  • Advise and assist in setting up institutional Intellectual Property/Technology Transfer (IP/TT) policies and offices;

  • Secure institutional consensus leading to signing of Alliance Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements, monitoring their compliance and conflict resolution;

  • Support and advise the BIO-EARN R4D projects on IP/TT matters;

  • Organize and manage capacity building at institutional level to strengthen IP/TT structures.

During the meeting the group unanimously elected Mr Antony S. Mbayaki from Moi University and Dr Ethel O. Monda from University of Nairobi as the chairperson and alternative chairperson respectively.

It is hoped that this group will greatly help in identification and management of IP and linking technologies to potential users thus enhancing technology transfer.
